VTT Technical research centre of Finland Ltd is the largest Research and Technology Organization (RTO) for applied sciences in Northern Europe (a staff of 2600, aturnover M€279). VTT has pioneered during the last 30 years in various aspects of the cellulose enzymatic hydrolysis including structure-function studies on industrially important cellulases from Trichoderma reesei, and optimization and up-scaling enzymatic hydrolysis processes.
Vivekananda institute of tropical mycology (VINSTROM) is a unit of the Ramakrishna Mission of India, which is a non-profit organization. It is dedicated for conducting research in the field of tropical mycology. The main focuses are on fungal ecology and bioprospecting. VINSTROM is a pioneer in the research on fungal endophytes of the tropics and holds the largest collection of fungal endophyte cultures (ca.1500 cultures from various habitats of India).
University of Tartu is Estonia's leading centre of research and training.

The research group of Dr. Priit Väljamäe has more than 15 years experience in the fundamental research on cellulose enzymatic hydrolysis including kinetics, rate-limiting steps and inhibition.
RWTH
Aachen University is the largest technical university in Germany (ca. 42,000 students). Since 2007 RWTH holds the status of University of Excellence funded by DFG. The cluster of excellence "Tailor-made Fuels from Biomass" combines the work of engineers and scientists. One of the engineering institutes involved is the chair of biochemical engineering, founded by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Büchs. A unique portfolio of new methods and techniques for innovative biotechnological processes has been developed.
